Public Affairs Coordinator
I was born in Washington DC and lived outside the Beltway until my family moved to Iowa when I was 10 years old. I’ve always been inspired by my parents’ careers as human rights activists, congressional aides, and civil servants. Being exposed to political figures since childhood was likely the foundation for my enthusiasm for policymaking and the legislative process.
Previously I worked at Vote Smart, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, voter education organization dedicated to delivering free and factual information about candidates running for office. Here I held many roles including legislative research and was eventually promoted to Director of Officials Research where I oversaw three political research programs.
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in sociology from the University of Iowa. While there, I sat on the founding board of our campus’ student chapter of the American Association for University Women (AAUW). Prior to Vote Smart, I interned with Iowa Public Radio and later worked for St. Louis Public Radio as a news reporting intern.
Outside of the political arena, I enjoy spending time with my husband, large family, two cats, and recently adopted greyhound, Bertie. I can easily be found trying the newest vegan cuisine, antiquing, or supporting local shops in the Des Moines metro.
